Mercier is constantly striving to increase resistance to abrasion and wear in our finish. The new Mercier Generations formula, with its innovative application technique now contains an even greater concentration of aluminum oxide.
The Taber abrasion test is the industry-recognized method for determining wear resistance. Testing procedures are laid out in the NEMA LD-3 standard. Tester integrity and careful adherence to these procedures are the best guarantees of accurate results. That's why Mercier certify that each comparative test they perform meets the NEMA LD-3 standard.
Product Information
Ultradurable formula: The Taber test consists of subjecting the finish on a piece of wood flooring to a rotating sandpaper disk, and determining the number of rotations required to wear through the finish. The higher the number of rotations, the more resistant the finish.
To ensure reliability, each test is conducted according to a precise methodology. Five factors must be strictly controlled for each test in order to meet the requirements of the NEMA LD-3 standard: the disk type, the pressure applied to disk, the sandpaper type, the sandpaper replacement cycle and the abrasive dust vaccuuming.
Non-Yellowing
The discoloration of wood flooring is the combined result of finish yellowing and changes in the wood tones under the finish. The new Mercier Generations formula fights yellowing to help prevent discoloration. While window glass filter out much of the ultraviolet radiation that causes yellowing, certain wavelengths can penetrate this barrier, altering the wood's natural coloration and causing the finish to yellow. To combat this, Mercier has added a protective screen to its Generations formula to block the residual UVA wavelengths that can discolor your floor. The wonderfully transparent Mercier Generations finish highlights the wood grain while preserving the look of a newly installed floor even longer.
Antimicrobial
Mercier's new urethane-based formula now contains an antimicrobial additive that inhibits the risk of mildew growth on the finished surface. Combined with regular cleaning, this powerful agent can help create a more sanitary environment*.
